The southwest Moroccan city of Agadir has become a hotspot for beach tourism in recent years, owing to its comfortably warm climate and wide arrange of accommodation options to choose from. Its main attraction is its long, calm beach, although there are a few cultural sites of interest in and around the city.
The beach offers a number of activities, including jet-skiing and paragliding. The city is also a good place to go on a camel ride. One of Agadir’s most popular non-beach sites is its fortress, perched high atop a hill overlooking the city. It’s a great place to get an idea of Agadir’s size through a bird’s eye view. Other popular attractions include a small zoo (Vallée des Oiseaux or Bird Valley), popular with children. A few miles outside of the main city sits La Médina d'Agadir, a tourist-oriented reconstruction of a traditional Moroccan medina which houses a number of shops and exhibitions.
There’s no shortage of accommodation in Agadir, with hotels suited to all budgets, including a number of stunning 5-star resort hotels. Agadir’s Al Massira International Airport serves destinations across Europe.
